Blessed Hope Women's Program

General Information

Blessed Hope is a residential discipleship programs working with women having life controlling problems who are determined to find a way out of their bondage.  The frame work of this program is a process by which desperate women come to accept the Biblical message of becoming a “new creation” through faith in Jesus Christ where old things pass away and all things become new (II Corinthians 5:10).

The Women’s program has been developed into three phases:

Phase 1: The resident must complete foundational biblical courses of personal study which require completion during a highly restricted two month schedule.  A regimented daily work routine is also part of this schedule.

Phase 2: The resident becomes a more serious bible student through continued study and application of God’s word.  In addition, during this four-month schedule responsibilities are increased and leadership roles develop as the resident demonstrates her ability to serve others effectively.  During the final month of this six-month program, residents will be afforded the opportunity to develop a Transition Plan.

Transition Plan: In order to make the transition from Blessed Hope to the next season of life, a number of issues must be considered and arrangements need to be made (e.g. determining what church to attend in order to find appropriate pastoral guidance and secure godly fellowship, seeking employment, getting a driver’s license, seeking housing, paying off debts, etc.).  Therefore, at the beginning of the resident’s sixth month, additional phone time will be provided for the purpose of making important contacts and necessary arrangements.  Also, all of the items on Blessed Hope’s Transition Plan must be appropriately addressed before the resident will be considered for a certificate of completion from the Blessed Hope.  The programs’ director and overseers will assist the resident whenever possible in making all necessary contacts.

Transition Phase: A resident will go in one of two directions upon completion of the program.  She will either leave or stay in the area of Calvary Chapel of Bangor.  If she is called by God to leave the area, the resident will implement the Transition Plan developed while in Phase 2.  If she decides to stay in the area, enrollment in the Transition Phase will occur immediately.  During this phase the resident will continue to room and board at her respective housing facility, adhering to all rules and requirements of the program.  However, the goal of this phase is to enable the resident to effectively transition into the community as a loving, responsible, mature, and dependable Christian.  Therefore, a primary objective of the student in Transition Phase is to secure and maintain gainful employment.  An equally important goal is to find an appropriate place to live in the community.  Numerous variables may be involved in meeting these objectives.  Therefore, the duration one is enrolled in this phase will be determined by the administrators of the programs.

Features of the Programs

Bible Study: Romans 12:1 reads, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.  And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”  Daily bible studies and regular at church services are paramount to this renewal process.

Manual Labor: All students are required to do physical work while in the six-month program.  Work is completed during the day while bible studies take place in the evening.

Discipline: A disciple is a “disciplined one.”  Residents learn obedience through discipline and correction.

This is a non-smoking program
